Alternately, consider a second-hand electric guitar. I personally have 3 electric guitars all purchased online through eBay. One was a brand new electric guitar, while the other 2 electric guitars were second hand. You can largely tell by the seller's description what conditioon the guitar is in, plus you can always ask questions.
