Welcome to Guitarwebs ("Guitarwebs," "we," "us" or "our"). Guitarwebs is a guitar community social networking Application under Folkstone Technologies Inc., aimed to provide guitar chords, tabs, books, and other guitar related updates within the community.

All the content posted on "Guitarwebs" is made by the users of "Guitarwebs.com".If a user is found to have posted defamatory content ,the user itself is liable for the content Under Sec.499 IPC.
Guitarwebs has no responsibility over the content posted and shared by the user. User itself liable for the content he/she posted. We will take action if it violates our privacy policy, Terms and Condition and Community guidelines.

Frets are an essential component of a guitar. If you're not sure what the frets on a guitar are they're actually the the strips of metal along the neck, also known as 'fretbars'. They are responsible for determining the pitch of the note(s) produced when you play the guitar by plucking or strumming the string(s).
While frets are not unique to guitars, many other stringed instruments, such as violins and cellos, lack them. On a guitar, however, they are critical for producing sound and determining where to play to achieve the desired note/pitch.
As a result, they are quite significant. How many frets does a guitar have, though? Is the number of frets the same across all guitars, or does it vary depending on the model?

It depends, as is so often the case. Acoustic and electric guitars have different fret counts, with acoustics typically having fewer frets than electrics.

However, the number of frets on a guitar will vary depending on the model. For example, every Les Paul has 22 frets, whereas Fender Stratocasters are available in 21 and 22 fret models. Many Ibanez and PRS guitars have 24 frets!
So, while the most common number of frets on an electric guitar is 22, you can see that it is entirely dependent on the guitar. Different types of music require different things, so guitars with varying fret counts have been created to meet those requirements.
There are a lot of different types of acoustic guitars though and they all have varying numbers of frets. The most common of acoustic guitars, the steel stringed, usually has 18 to 20 frets.
Classical acoustics will mostly have 19 frets, as do flamenco guitars.
Even though they have many more frets, some acoustic guitars are referred to as 12 or 14 foot guitars. This refers to the point where the guitar's neck meets the body. So when you see a '12 fret guitar,' it means that the neck meets the body at the 12th fret, not that it only has 12 frets.
